UPDATE! 25 Oct 2010

It is with great sadness that I write this update. On the 25th October 2010 my little sister sadly passed away at the age of 31. She had bravely battled MND for 11 years. She had never given up and had achieved to much even after developing MND, winning the Open University award for achievement to gaining a degree. She will be greatly missed and will for ever be in our thoughts. Love you sis :D

Well where to start, it was all originally done as I was carry to much weight and wanted to loose it. Which I am sure it most peoples story begins, however after loosing the weight I actually started to enjoy running outside. Joined some forums (BCTTT & Runners World), there inspiration and helpfullness has helped me a lot. Now I am also swimming and commuting a couple of times a week to work on my bike! Now since 2011 I accomplished more than I thought I ever would or could. From 5k runs to an Ironman in 2014 and The Outlaw in 2015. In 2016 I am going down a different route, I will be trying Ultra's as you can see from my events I have already entered 3 so far. Now I thought wait a minute I need to have one more motivation and that people is my sister Emma. Since the age of 20 she was very unfortunate and developed MND (Motor Neurone Disease), she is now 31 years of Age. Her health has deteriatated over the years and we nearly lost her last year. My mum had to give up her work and become a full time carer for my sister and my dad takes over the duties when he comes home from work. All the races I do will be in aid of my sister and all money raised will be donated to MND to help raise awareness and research in the disease. Thanks for all your help and enjoy my training blog,

Staffordshire 70.3

This was to be the first ever Staffordshire 70.3 it was boasting a fast bike course. The run looked good. My training was coming along nicely and with finishing the London Marathon with virtually no problem thought that this should be easyish.  How things can change.

Once again my parents had the duty of looking after Erin and Rebecca, as Yvonne and I headed to Cannock.

Due to traffic (lorry on fire) the journey took 2hrs longer than I had estimated. So it was quickly over the to get registered and then back to Cannock to drop the bike off @ Bridgtown Cycles. Mike did his wonders and gave the bike a quick service, Thanks guys :D.

Saturday was a bit of driving about dropping the bike off at Cannock Chase aswell as the blue bag (Bike). Then heading over to Shugborough Estate to drop off the run bag. Eventually I could relax and enjoy the rest of the day.

I never had much sleep Saturday night, nerves again. We had to drive to Shugborough to get the bus back to Cannock Chase. Just meant the car being parked at the end. Checked the bike started to put on my wetsuit ready for my wave. Turned round and who was warming up beside me none other than Javier Gomez, So I done when any other person would do and get a photo with him (To follow).

At this point I really should point out that my breakfast was pretty much none existant. That is not really a good start to the day and I will tell anyone doing any race that this is not the done thing you must have a good breakfast before any race.

So off to the swim start and we are away. The swim I found was slow and I always panic incase I get cramp but suffice to say I did not. Got round in one piece the run to T1 was err not good. it was uneven, stepping on loose stones etc. Once at T1 got out the wetsuit into my bike gear then out to gather the bike.

The first 3 miles or so on the bike were horrific, There was unmarked speed bumps with no warnings. pot holes, lost water bottles and pumps strewn everywhere. The bike was hard going no way is this a flat fast course. There was a few hairpin turns that other cyclists never took heed from the marshals (yup end up in hedges etc). I did feel sorry for some marshals as their were cars that did not take road closures lightly and went through onto oncoming cyclists (hope they got reg numbers). The cycle was scenic and if it was not for those issues mentioned above it would of been an enjoyable cycle.

Into T2 got changed into my trainers and there was Yvonne cheering me on, she managed to get back to Shugborough (another story). Now it was time to run round the estate a few times. The run course was pretty much well covered with spectators cheering you on. Saw Yvonne several times round the course. The run itself is flat with a one big hill (ran up first time then walked the others) The terrain is mixed trail and tarmac. There is plenty of feed stations on the run. The paths are narrow just be careful when overtaking people (which was not really a problem for me lol).

Finished in 6hrs 18mins. Was not the best race I have had but certainly one of the hardest I have done. Would probably of been a tad faster if I actually had proper nutrition this came back to bit me on the bike.
